Default 59 A oil gallery

On one of the blocks I,m going to use , it has an extra oil gallery cast in by the oil pump drive cover, this gallery lines up with another pad next to the left hand engine stay rod hole,
The gallery is undrilled ,there is also a drilled hole into the gallery that takes the oil across to the main oil gallery .
Has anyone seen this setup, and what is it for,oil cooler? full flow?
Thanks Lawrie
