1939 2 door ford deluxe value?
I just bought the above frame off restoration in excellent condition. It is a beautiful driver but not a show car. I paid $26000 which is probably too much but it is the exact car I have been looking for. Have had trouble finding this specific model in excellent condition. What is the realistic value for such a car? Jon Laing

More data. This car is restored to original condition. Not a hot rod. Jon Laing

Re: 1939 2 door ford deluxe value?
Hi Everyone, I get a magazine called Sports Car Market, it focuses on the auction market for collector cars. If you're a 'Platinum Member' (which I'm not), you can search their extensive auction database for sales results.
I tried it and came up with this message. I don't know if the chart behind is accurate for '39 Deluxe, but I tried. Another technique is to search Ebay's completed auctions. -VT/JeffH |

Re: 1939 2 door ford deluxe value?
The bottom line is the fact that this is the car you have been seeking and found. It doesn't make any difference what you paid for it as long as you are happy. Example; suppose you paid $26,000 for a car, drove it for 20 years and sold it for $22,000. In 20 years you lost $4000 or $200 a year. Could you lease that old car for $200 a year? Could you buy a new car for $26,000 and sell it 20 years later for $22,000? absolutely not. Just enjoy what you have and don't worry about whether or not you may have paid too much. It's all about the fun of owning an old Ford and enjoying the friends you make in the hobby.

My method is to do the price research up front for a while, then I always STOP LOOKING as soon as I have purchased. Then I stay out of there for about 6 months. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Also, it always depends on what you want to do. For example, I looked for a very long time to find a pickup truck. I could have bought a fully restored one for about 16k. I didn't want that. I wanted a project, but I wanted a complete project, not something someone had disassembled and possibly butchered up . So even though I'll have more than 16k in mine when done, that was what I wanted.

Probably a question that should have been asked BEFORE you bought it?? If you're happy I wouldn't lose sleep over it and if someone asks say 19.5. JMO

A local guy sold a very nicely redone 40 tudor for $24,000. Of course now a dealer has it and is asking $32,000.

confirm everything on your car is "original excellent condition" based that you know it was restored. If so, then you have a chance to recoop that when you sell. If not......keep it for an heirloom to your kids.
