how to remove the pinion gear
How do I remove the pinion gear from the driveshaft? do I remove the baring retainer nuts then the shaft from the housing, and then use a puller?

Re: how to remove the pinion gear
No, on the end of the pinion gear where the driveshaft protrudes (inside the differential housing) will be a keyed nut that is screwed onto the threaded end of the driveshaft. That needs to be removed. The pinion is tapered as is the driveshaft. I have a special fixture that clamps onto the driveshaft and I can press it off. You may need to find a way to "safely" strike the end of the driveshaft to free up the two tapers.

Re: how to remove the pinion gear
Mitchell makes a nifty pinion puller for a reasonable price.
