Default 36 bumper mounting

The bumper brackets on my 36 pickup look to be wrong. Can someone tell me the distance between the mounting holes on a 36 Pickup rear bumper? I need the measurement from the outside hole in the bumper to the inside mounting hole. Also, do 36 Passenger car bumpers with the V in the middle fit on the pickup, front and rear?

36 pickup did not come with a bumper. First rear bumper on Ford trucks was 1937.

Thank you Lawson. What bumpers and brackets are being used on the ones you see pictures of with rear bumpers. Does the 36 front bumper fit on the rear? I like the looks of a rear bumper on the truck. Attached is a picture from the internet of a rear bumper on a 36 pickup. Art

Art: I struggled with that very problem for quite some time back many years ago. I even tried the back bars someone was making for the 35-36 pickups, but I just couldn't take a liking to the whole concept of a rear bumper on my 35.

I have seen a very early picture, factory photo or dealer photo, of a line of 36 pickups. Some had the V in the middle of the bumper while others do not. I do not have any info on that photo, other than the fact that it does exist. I guess the factory just used what was available whether straight or V shaped. MOST commercials used the straight bumper.

Oh, what's the history on your avatar drawing? Interesting story I'm sure.

I can't recal ver seeing a 35-36 with a rear chrome bumper similar to a front.. I hope you know that the 35-bumper is similar to the '36, but very different.
I had a '37 Ford pickup many years ago that had a chrome rear bumper, as I recall it was the same as a front. I had harvested the bumper off of a '37 coupe.

The rear bumpers of a '36 do not bolt onto the side of the frame, they attach to the side of the frame as shown in the attached pix.
Look around for a '37 Ford pickup rear bumper bars, see if you can modify them to fit a '36 Ford bumper.

Ya know, a "Victor Wrench' can do wonders to make things fit.

Has anyone checked out the Ford Chassis and Accessories Catalogue?

Found this -- looks like a rear pickup bumper was available
