What's the best way to remove rubber cement from the 32 cowl vent channel?
Yup fat gasket! Anyone know where to get the correct thickness gasket? Thanks,,, |

Re: Rubber cement removal?
My experience with Goof Off pro strength on a side panel of a pontoon boat. I removed registration stickers from a dark grey panel and it considerably lightened the paint color. It may be good in a vent channel where the finish is not on an exposed surface that will pick up the reflection of the sun?
I had to cover my mistake with a vinyl stripping. Terry S |

Re: Rubber cement removal?
I wonder if a heat gun would help soften it enough to pull off.

Re: Rubber cement removal?
I removed some door seal rubbers from a truck that had a 30 year old paint job with wax and silicone remover. It's a solvent that weakens / dissolves the adhesive enough to make it gooey. Then I sprinkled sawdust on the weakened adhesive and rubbed it with a rag. The semi-dissolved adhesive would stick more to the sawdust than the paint and would roll up into a ball. It took quite a while but it did work and did not harm the paint.

Re: Rubber cement removal?
autozone sells adhesive remover in a spray can. softens adhesive but does not effect paint.

Re: Rubber cement removal?
Why glue the gasket in anyway? Where's it gonna go? It can't get away. After my repaint, I just laid it in the channel. Cowl vent door closes on it and it hasn't ever moved when the vent is open. any water runs out the drain as designed. No glue goobing up my paint either.

Re: Rubber cement removal?
Wonder how one of the rubber eraser wheels would work. Worked to remove stickers and their adhesive in the truck shop.

Re: Rubber cement removal?
Be careful with the pro strength goof off, I’ve had it remove paint.

Re: Rubber cement removal?
Thanks for all the good suggestions, the car is already painted so at least now I know what to avoid. Thanks again.
