Default Remote oil filter

I have been thinking about putting a remote filter on my "47". Does it matter where in relation to the block, or how far away I mount it? My thinking was that if it is mounted to get some air flow around it, Would it help to cool the oil? or would it have little or no effect on oil temp?

The mounting location is not overly important. They are often mounted on the firewall. An original Ford bypass filter is not going to make any difference in the oil temp. A BeeHive? maybe, but not that much.

I still hold to the theory that the filter, IF IT IS OF THE FULL FLOW TYPE, should be mounted below the fittings on the block. I think this because the oil in the lines above the fittings will drain back into the block when the engine isn't running and have to be filled again before the engine receives oil pressure at start-up. I realize that the oil in the filter won't drain back, but there is enough volume in the lines to make a significant delay of oil to the engine.

I assumed we were talking by-pass filters, but that may not be the case.

Yes, probably so since he is adding it to the car and not rebuilding the engine.

If it to be an added by-pass filter the OP needs to be aware of the need for the .060" restrictor.

If using the full flow type ,use a filter with the anti drain back flap in and oil pressure is straight away up on start up.

Buy it from Gollers Rod and Custom. He sells the genuine kit. There is a seller on E bay that uses questionable oil pumps. I got burned by one. The Gollers kit works great over $10k on rebuild since installed. I put filter where a small block Chevy is located on bottom left bolted to flywheel cover.
