I don't know what it was used on but I want it. I'll pay for the shipping. I think that it's an automatic choke attached to the throttle shaft. Looks like it could have been used on a military vehicle....

This holley has a 4 bolt rectangular flange on the bottom
and a 4 bolt square flange on the top for air filter mounting. .

Hard to tell from the photos but I think that might be a governor on a commercial vehicle, welder or generator carb.

If you look at a couple of the pictures you can see where someone cut off the large round diaphragm housing off of the side cover. I was a governor carb until that happened. Sal |

I wonder if this could be a precursor to the Holley "Bug Sprayer" 94 with the 4 bolt base that came out during the VW bug performance trend in the 60's.

Re: Help identifi an odd Holley 2 brl carb
I don't know what this Holley was originally for, but we got it off an
old 4 1/8 stroker flathead that raced the local circle tracks here back in the 1960's era. Thanks for the replies, anyone else have anything to add,,,thx .

Looks like it may have origially been for a military application that had a 'snorkel' bolted to the top for use in high water situations.

Sal, looking close at the carb, I can see one place that looks like it has been altered. Is it the rectangular hole in this picture, where the round diaphragm would have been cut off from, as I can see very tiny saw marks there..... thx Click on pic to Enlarge.

"Sal, looking close at the carb, I can see one place that looks like it has
been altered. Is it the rectangular hole in this picture, where the round diaphragm would have been cut off from, as I can see very tiny saw marks there..... thx" My guess would be that someone realized this carb flowed more air than other 94 type carbs and disabled the governor to use on the stroked flathead race car. Based on the Holley list number that was stated, it was made for a vehicle in the 70's, or that number wasn't really the part number. Sal Sal |

Re: Help identify an odd Holley 2 brl carb
The list number is sorta hard to read, so I could be wrong on a couple numbers...thx

Re: Help identify an odd Holley 2 brl carb
Definitely a truck carb derived from the 94 lineage. Whem the Danbury stock car track last ran flatheads requiring stock appearance, I was told all the carbs were 94 types (though larger than .94!) from some IHC application. The extrea flow was of course in the venturi area, and none wer run looking like that...they had all been built using normal car tops and bottoms, I'm guessing the 1956 type throttle bodies. Could no look, of course, that sort of thing is top secret!
I found one of the stock IHC ones at Hershey...I did not buy it, but noted that the center casting bore "29" markings ('43 Ford-Merc), so I assume Holley was recyling old outer mold parts and presumably using different inner forms for bigger venturis. I shoulda bought the thing just to find out. I have an Army Holley manual showing several versions of carbs like that from various trucks. |
