On page 42 car auction results they picture a 1929 Model A roadster that did not sell for $21,000 but state an average selling price is $45,000? Lots of Model A roadsters in Ford category for half of that and in their own magazine.

It is difficult to edit a publication as large as Hemmings. Give them a break.

Often times the pictures that do not match the ads are supplied to Hemmings by the seller. That's a fact...
They get their average selling prices from other auction results in the past. Not what folks are asking in any publication.

I must really be getting behind in current prices. I didn't realize that 28-29 Model A roadsters could or would average that high, even Barrett Jackson ones I watched didn't muster much attention. A 30 or a 31 Roadster pickup or a Deluxe Phaeton yes.

I think that figure comes out of the NADA Classic/Antique value guide and that thing is so mis-construed on values, it should be thrown in the trash can. The professional appraisers go more by the Old Car Weekly Price Guide it is more in line with reality.

The nicest '28-'29 Roadsters go for low 20's more like $21,000 or $22,000 MAYBE $23K if you are real lucky, and those are cars that need absolutely nothing!! I have seen that a lot in the last couple of years.
If Old Cars Value guide is near correct, I am going to start buying up all the 40 Fords (at their stated values) I can get my hands on.
