Default 30 Coupe door/window frame

Hi there,

My name is Clay, I am new member to the site, was not sure if there is a introduction section or not.

My wife and I just bought our first A. It is from what we were told an early 30 Standard Coupe.

My question is: on the doors to remove the windows. I was told that the top plate on the very top of the door on door comes off with some screws, then you lift the window up and out. On this car there is no screws what so ever on this top plate. However once you remove the window weather striping on the top, it looks or appears like the metal cap folds or is some how attached to the door.

Is there another way that I am missing something about removing the window in the door?

I will try and get some pictures in the coming days.

TIA
Clay

Hi Clay: Welcome to the barn. There should be three slot head screws on the top of top metal part of the door. They may be buried in the paint. One in the centre and one at each end. Once this is off then you can roll up the window and ease the regulator arm past the door frame. Then it will come off of the arm. Then you just lift the glass up and out of the channel. Take care not to close the door with the glass half way up as you can make a lot of extra work.

The top of the doors is a place that water can settle. On my '30 Coupe those screws were rusted to the point of being invisible. I had to dig around to find them, and then drill them out and re-tap. I ended up replacing them with brass screws to avoid rust in the future.

Ok so here is a picture, maybe there is cap that is covering the screws?

Also, I have been told that the car is a "early 30" Could it be possible that they are a 29?

TIA
Clay

The 1st pic shows the front top of the door, the second pic shows the rear top of the door, and the third pic shows the rubber weatherstripping removed looking up at the top of the door window channel.

TIA

are my eyes playing tricks on me. on the one picture of the back part of the door. when I blow up the picture. there is a screw right where it should be, it is either screwed on or welded on, but the top of the door is made to come off. just like 1930 coupe shows.
