Default What is this Head

I have a head on a 28 engine that has 06-4 cast into it. Does anyone know if this is a high compression head and if so what is the compression?

Thanks

The guy I got my 28 pickup project from said it was a Model A High Compression head but the current Snyder's 5.5 and 6.0 do not have a code cast in the head. Does anyone know for sure if this is a Model B or Police head? If so what was the compression on them?

As for the engine it is a 28 and from the looks of things it does not appear to be re-stamped......do not ask me how I know lol

You need to answer the question, does it have a 4 bolt water pump or a 3 bolt water pump? That will tell you A or B

It's a 4 bolt water pump.

Your cylinder head is an aftermarket service part that was cast by a forging shop in June of 1940. I have had several heads with casting dates on them, and they have all had the stock compression ratios, 4.2:1 for the Model "A" and 4.6:1 for the Model "B". There is no apparent feature on the current 5.5:1 and 6:1 reproduction heads that shows them to be other then stock.
If the water pump attachment has 4 holes, the head is for a Model "A". If the head has 3 water pump attachment holes, it is for a Model "B".

The Snyder 5.5 has two dots on top and is physically smaller than the stock head. Don't know about the 6.0 as I don't know anyone that has one.

The model A head with a large cast B on the top of the head is the police head. This head uses the 4 bolt water pump.

The Model B head has a large C cast on top of the head and uses the 3 bolt water pump.
