Default Odd Generator, Whats it?

I have a odd generator. Never saw one like it! The field connection is about 1" from the front of the case. all the ones I've had the field stud is about 4" to the rear. What can anyone tell me about it?

If it has the post towards the front, then it should also have a ball bearing in the rear. The bearing area will be much larger than the bushing area diameter.
