joke for the day...
C'mon guys... if ya want a huge laugh, go look at this fender on eBay. Read the description and look at the photos. Especially the photo that shows the rear of the fender.
I asked this guy if he would post pictures of the actual fender he described and he replied with "????". eBay item number:191734528884

Re: joke for the day...
Yikes, I guess we know his standards if that is "solid, very good metal"!! If free it wouldn't be worth $95 shipping even for "yard art"!

Re: joke for the day...
It is not a fender, it is "rear fender sheet metal." LOL

Re: joke for the day...
Has he changed his description? It now reads:
"not sure of year " I repeat do not know year " if you recognize it and up for a challenge ,buy this rusty piece of ,you know watt , if you got talent you got a good fender here to work with ! No talent keep looking Shipping to lower 48 states any other shipping at additional call thank you" I know the price is ridiculous, but I see more and more of this on cars and parts for sale. You can always go down on your asking price, but not up. |

Re: joke for the day...
I guess it might be just the thing for a rat rod that has skulls and circular saw blades welded to it.

Re: joke for the day...
I always thought that "rat rods" were for guys that could not afford good body work and a paint job. Or who did not have the skill set to do the work. I could be wrong.

Re: joke for the day...
deuce_roadster, you have a good point. Can't fault the guy for trying to make a few bucks and the rat rod crowd might be falling all over each other to buy it!
Tinker, yours has nice paint and patina! A much nicer fender! |

Re: joke for the day...
It helps to start with a nice clean vehicle when restoring.
The price is super high. Almost $500 after shipping, I certainly would NOT pay that much.. but in my eyes its a usable fender with some metal work... well lots of metal work. Unless there is a stash of 38-41 rear truck fenders out there somewhere in perfect shape, this happens to be your only option, that or fiberglass... Last edited by Tinker; 11-10-2015 at 01:44 PM. |

Re: joke for the day...
Seth--I have seen rat rods with skill saw blades welded to the tops and skulls on the fenders. Rust out is something to be proud of and never be fixed. Bizarre stuff.

Re: joke for the day...
Reminds me of the last day of the Hershey Swap Meet. See stuff that no one would buy with prices still on it in the trash cans.

Re: joke for the day...
Some of that is the guys who bring junk and overprice it to have a space and stay on the grounds.

Re: joke for the day...
That fender is in great shape for one that is not reproduced and hard to find. It appears from my vantage point to be easier to repair than Tinker's rear fender.
That price is also in great shape. I celebrate our free market economy though. Ask what you want and if it doesn't sell then either hang on to it for another 10 years or drop the price and don't store it. In 10 years Tinker's unrestored fender will probably be worth $500. I also know that my truck is worth more parted out than as a complete truck. |

I Love it! HA HA
Years ago before I found my car, I'll never forget a guy was selling a model a Coupe that was rusted and burned, no motor, no drive train basically a shell and he wanted 6000.00 for it. |
