Great photo of a model T, not a model A.

Harold LeMay at one point, had the largest car collection in the world(or darn near) This has been there for years. Who knows the story behind it? Possibly one of the docents?

Hi, I do not like these images. It hurts and I also regret the Model A enthusiast. But it might be interesting to see how an A behaves in an accident with modern cars. It reminds one to be careful when you're way with an A.

2 Vids from youtube:

In the first video, I really pity for the older Model A guy. I hope he could make his car fit again.

All the time a good and safe ride wishes

Look at #13-quite likely that it was someone's head that broke that windshield. In the pre-seatbelt era, accidents like this that involved relatively minor damage often resulted in fatal injuries.

The story I got was that the car was parked on a set of RR tracks and was hit from the rear pushing it into the truck parked in front of it.

You guys are welcome, Thanks Mike! I did get some if not all of them from the previous thread and saved them. I love period photos. You never know what you might notice on the car or in the background. Currently I'm going through old Three Stooges episodes from the 30's and saving screen shots of model A's like this one!

This is the first time I have seen the above video.

The video above shows the aftermath of an event that occurred to a couple in our Model A Club. They were returning home after a fly in at a small private air field. They were traveling on a road with a 40 mph speed limit. The pickup was approaching from the opposite direction and made a left turn in front of the model A. In looking at the damage to the pickup, the pickup’s right front fender front quarter was impacted by the Model A. This indicates to me that the pickup made a left turn, must not have seen the approaching Model A, giving the Model A driver no time to brake or take evasive action.

this is a dumb question but in looking some at the contemporary photos of Model "A" wrecks, how could they incur such damage, given that cars accelerated and cruised at slower speeds, the predominant makes (Fords, Chevrolets, Dodges, etc.) were lighter-weight cars, etc. I could understand if a speeding train hit the vehicles but otherwise the damage on some seems incomprehensible.

The head on crashes may have been out in the country where they were running wide open. Combined speed would be over 110mph. That and they always seem to roll over... most of the pictures I have seen they are on their lid or on their side.

"Combined speed would be over 110 MPH." Not really! This is another myth that does not stand up to the light of day. It doesn't work that way. It's true that there is twice the energy with two cars colliding head-on, but there is also twice the mass to absorb that energy, so the net result is a combined speed of 55 MPH, not 110.
Picture it this way: A car hits a 10 foot thick concrete wall with enough force to push the front axle back to the firewall. Now imagine two cars hit the wall from opposite sides at the same time at the same speed. Again, the front axle is pushed back to the firewall, same as before. Now, let's narrow the wall to five feet thick. Same results, right? Next, reduce the wall to one foot thick. Same results again. Six inches thick, same results. 1/2 inch thick? At what point would the wall be thin enough that the "combined speed would be 110 MPH" (or whatever speed we're hitting the wall at)? Why would removing the wall from this scenario make any difference? It doesn't!
Mythbusters did a segment on this myth and totally busted it. They crashed a car into a barrier at 55 MPH, then crashed two cars head-on at 55. The damage was the same in both cases. Then they crashed a car into the barrier at 110 MPH (speeds may not be riight; I can't remember for sure). But anyway, the car that was crashed at 100 MPH plus was mangled far, far worse than the 55 MPH head-on crash (which was the same as the 55MPH single car crash into the barrier wall).
