Default Mallory Distributor

I have a 37 Ford that I installed years ago a Mallory Dual Point Distributor. Does an original carb style dist cap fit the Mallory Distributor or must it be a Mallory cap made for that distributor? Also are point settings different?

On mine the stock 42 cap does fit and work. My distrib is probably from around the year 2000 and a dual point, not electronic one. The newer ones are taller and different looking. On a side note, get a good condenser from Napa or somewhere else ( I am using a marine rated one) instead of the cheap Mallory condenser they supply, my original went bad, caused backfires that blew gas up into the air cleaners on the 97s and caught fire, could have lost the car because of a cheap part. Was bad enough losing a hood and engine wiring. Set it up on a distributer machine.

I use an Echlen condenser from NAPA on mine. It's for a 57 Chevy V-8.
