Machine shop Sale.. 99 block+ parts
I have never assembled a Flathead V8, but hearing of a machined 99 block and parts at a 'going out of business' sale, I ended up with a fresh machined 99 block 3 3/16th plus .040, new pistons w/ rings[4], reconditioned rod set, all new bearings, fresh crank [.020/.020]. New valves, springs, and split guides. The block has 16 hard seats installed. No cam or lifters. Included was a Chev trans adapter. So during this Winter I will attempt to assemble this project. My experience is rebuilding Aircraft engines for 5 yrs and a few modern V8's. You all like photos so here is the start. First the stand fixture did not fit the block, the 7/16 holes were wrong as was an identical fixture, same mfgr, all fixed now. future reports to be posted for you all. Newc That Stude doesn't belong here!!

Lucky dog! And a 99 too! The adapter looks like it needs a later model (8BA type) clutch throwout lever. Hope that doesn't cause problems.

Will it mater? Not sure. If you want it to be dead nuts accurate, make sure you tell the cam grinder it's for a 99-series engine if that matters to you. |

I don't think it makes much difference, unless you plan on a Bovel record.
