Were the brown coils a 1 year only thing (1939) and did all 39's have brown coils or just some of them?

Brown coils at least through '42. MOST of '39 were brown.
Once the USA got into full war material production (1938ish), carbon black was strictly limited from other production uses.

Thanks Kube. I'm gonna have to go with black I guess as I do not have a brown one. I have one brown distributor cap, but that's all. Merry Christmas.

Now, I have the brown caps but still looking for a nice brown coil core. Again, going on display model 60HP. I can buff it to nice shine, just need one with no chips/cracks etc. Thanks again guys/gals.

When the coils come back from Skip they look like new. Not sure what he does, buff them? someone on here should know
