My 34 has a 36-40-style flywheel, and 9-in clutch. Never regretted the change.
The 34 clutch is available to anyone that wants it.
I thought about taking the lip off, but never did.
(BTW, 8BA flywheel = no. 59A = yes, but it's for 10-in. I'm unsure if this will clear in 34 trans. Someone else will comment.)
