Default Re: Torque Tube Carrier Bearing

(years ago)I bought a (dentless) ,online, '36 half-ton. I bought it as soon as I saw the photo ad. Paid the $12,000; had it shipped.

Upon arrival, drove it w/a neighbor. Woah! unbelievable screeching/squealing WHAT'S THAT!. (apparently that's why he, the seller, sold it.)we didn't know about the torque tube bearing, obviously the seller didn't either. But we soon found out!

knocked the bearing unit out of the tube w/a crowbar; bearing was a standard size; hardware store had it. Knocked it back in.
* be sure to line up the bearing unit with the grease fitting on the tube!(the grease fitting is on the TOP side of the tube; the grease simply drops on the bearing unit. The bearing was never greased! (the bearing was in indescribable shape.)
