I have a retainer in the block side, but don't have one in the cap side. What is the right retainer that will fit the cap? I have attached pictures of the cap and a retainer that I have, but it doesn't fit in the cap. What is the problem?

I never had the original ones that came with the block to compare.
Any help would be appreciated.
