Okay Dick, correction noted, and since you make your living with this kind of stuff who better to turn to for a clarification. The snout on the '36 front hub/drum is longer than the '37-9 (I've sold all my old '36 parts so from memory seems it was around 1" longer) so with bearing spacing being the same where is that length compensated for? Is it that the mechanical brake backing plate "rolls" back further on the spindle mounting surface, or....? And presumably that would also mean that the rod actuated mechanical brake has a different orientation from the cable operated form on '37-8? It would help me to know.
