Get yourself a small bottle of Indian Head Shellac (about $3.50) at Napa. Place it on the inside of the hose at each connection and allow it get tacky before installing the hose.
You'll be amazed at how well this stuff helps to seal and hold the hose in place. When and if you need to replace a hose, it breaks free rather easily.
One of those "old time" chemicals and "tricks" that actually work.
