V8coopman, Thanks for the pics of older hub/drum's. I'm leaning strongly to Tubman's suggestion that the notch is used hold the hub in p!ace while the drum and studs are being attached. Thanks for everyone's input. I'm waiting for the wheel cylinders to arrive so I can put it all together and get "Buelah"(my wife's name for the car) back on the road.
