Default Re: Leaking gas tank

MadMac, I am an engineer and hold a patent that involves the use of an epoxy resign. This experience required doing an exstensive amount of research involving different types of resigns. Epoxy is compatable with being continually exposed to gasoline. You indicate you have removed the cause of your leaking problem by switching to the other type of column support bracket, good move.
I would empty the tank and clean the leak area with alcohol. Then completely remove the paint where the leak occured with paint remover covering a slightly larger area. Completely scuff the bare metal with a non-metallic abrasive such as a course scotch brite pad. Thoroughly clean off surface with alcohol, then apply a liberal amount of a 2 part clear epoxy. If the surface preparation is rough and clean this repair will last for years.
