I knew Mark for 25 years and think your remarks about him are totally out of place. He isn't around to explain his beliefs, so lets keep the "I know a guy" crap out of here.
As I already stated, pressurizing the new filter was the best method I've found to
minimize the oil pressure rise time on my
remote filter installations, as that's what the OP was initially asking about.
PS-I've always prefilled vertical block-mounted filters.
