You can do it fairly easily, takes a bit of cash. The least ugly way I have seen it done is using a 39-48 Powergen alternator with an Offenhauser alternator pulley with fan mount. There are other combinations that work including whittling your own bracket to mount the alternator and swapping the voltage reference unit to convert the alternator to 6V.


But why? If you are staying 6V the generator will almost certainly do everything you need at less cost and look better doing it. Why is your friend wanting an alternator?
