I know for a fact that before the depression and WW2, the older generation of the day said similar things about the younger one and look at how they rose to the occasion. As unlikely as it might seem, I think the youguns of today would also step up. At least, that's what I hope. There is nothing like a threat to your own home to unite a country into action. Even those divisive, conspiracy driven politicians we have around these days might even see the light. Hoping.
