Default Not old Ford: Cam Seminar Billy Godbold @ COMP

teaser/knee-slapper: Skip to 14:20 in the video linked below, and in about a minute you'll hear a comparison of cam designs to "Ticking off your wife really badly and bringing home chocolates."

Hi Everyone, I thought I might make a combo education and entertainment recommendation. I have no connection but I'm linking below their latest posting that made me think about valvetrains in a different way.

A YouTuber, last name Stapleton, channel Stapleton42, has been presenting a lot of behind the scenes peeks into NASCAR history these days that I've found watchable. Stuff like the shops and people (and kids/grandkids of the people) who ran/run the likes of Holman-Moody, Petty, Morgan-McClure, etc. Dives into race parts like exhausts and intakes that had hundreds of hours of massaging, ran once, won, and went onto a shelf (in the case of Ernie Ervin's '91 Daytona winning intake).

A project he's on is to document a car getting ready for Lake Speed (b. 1948) to take out again after years of being off the track.

I don't know much of the history but Lake's son, featured in the videos, seems like a fella that might have been into piston rings and that type of stuff as it relates to winning races. Might have been with Yates. Science stuff.

Lake's old engine is getting a refresh from some helpers like NHRA's Alan Johnson who did the block in an earlier episode giving a similar insider view.

This time there is an intriguing camshaft perspective shot at COMP Cams featuring Billy Godbold. The video is about 24 minutes long.

I think we also hear the term plumber's crack as it relates to valve springs?!?

I thought some of you might enjoy. I'm pretty sure I learned something.
