Hello. My friend Lars asked me if I had connected my oil filter correctly. The answer is I don't know.

I have a beehive filter and the side port is labelled "out".

I didn't use the beehive, I used a French military filter housing that looks identical to Ford truck types. Illustrations I have found appear to feed in at the side and out at the bottom.

So my question is, should the oil be fed in at the bottom, or at the side, or does it not matter?
