Default Re: Guide coat color ??

Gerard I would get an aerosol can of black lacquer & dust on a very thin transparent coat.
Canadian tire has it in the hardware dept., by Rustoleum corp, called "Specialty Lacquer" in a green can, bar code#20066 16901.
**Don't buy anything that says enamel.
Enamel dries slower, plugs the paper and in the event that some enamel stays on the car (in a crack or crevice) it could possibly wrinkle or lift under the new paint.
Be sure to sand the primer as thin as possible at your edges...like door edges and especially the hood hinge area to avoid easy chipping.
Someone (Marco?) wrote an article about filing (not filling) the hood hinge joints to eliminate all primer where it pivots.
Less is more.
