A lot of the Model A's currently being driven and enjoyed by their owners might be rejected by a rebuilder if all their flaws were exposed upon dismantling. I drove one for several years that used some oil and would top out at only 55 MPH. It always started and never overheated. When I pulled it for a valve job and rebore the machinist uncovered all of her cracks and other flaws and deemed it "unrebuildable". How many searches for a new engine begin with the scrapping of one that was OK but not perfect?
