Re: charging
If it was properly rebuilt, the brushes should have been sanded in to fit the commutator. I do this on every generator I rebuild.

Re: charging
You must use an analog meter. What kind of cutout are you using? Did you install it backwards? Post some good clear photos of your generator so we can see.

Re: Generator Spinning
It sounds like the diode is either shorted or hooked up backwards. I offer refurbished original Ford cutouts and have the correct one for your generator. PM for details.

Re: Relocate battery in ‘35
I put an Optima in my '35 Fordor, stock location. Much easire to remove/replace. I made my own custom hold down bracket.

Re: Pully came off generator shaft
The thin nut and lock washer was used with a keyed pulley, as shown in the exploded diagram above, not the threaded pulley.
The thread on pulley used a locking clip on the end of the shaft, which...

Re: Pully came off generator shaft
I rebuild a lot of these generators. That is a thin nut, I would NOT use an impact wrench, there is a good chance of stripping it. Loctite - yes.

Re: Auction results in Varina Va.
I need to service, adjust and test the cutout first. I want to make sure it works properly first. If I can get it done in time. I'll bring it to Luray on Thursday.

Re: 6 Volt heater motor rebuild
I'm no expert on Hadees heaters, but I did restore one 6 or 7 years ago. Here are a couple other similar badges that say Hadees Heater on them.

Re: 35 Hinge Pin Mirrors by Drake
My '35 came with the '36 style curved arms. Its not right, but they position just fine. But visibility with them sucks. The mirrors are small and so is the field of view. I went on ebay and found a...

Re: Generator and Fan
It does seem odd, but I'm reading this out of the Ford geen book. Just reporting what I read.

Re: Generator and Fan
I don't know, I'm not an engineer :D
There were a lot of different pulleys available over the years. A mid - late 1930s car with big V8 typically used a pulley .408" to .438 diameter. The V8 60...

Re: Generator and Fan
Yes, V8 60 has a smaller crank and generator pulley. I looked through my spare pulleys and found one V8 60 pulley. They are hard to find and identify. There are two, maybe three different V8 60...
