Re: German engine?
I'll try to bring this thread back to topic a little bit ;)
Here's a photo taken on a former Soviet air base in Eastern Germany featuring a Soviet DC-3 clone and some real Fords:...

Re: German engine?
Very well documented in this book (incl. photos):

Re: German engine?
As Porsche worked for Ledwinka (Tatra) before he was given the "Volkswagen" project no wonder they share some designs like the air cooled rear engine and the central tube chassis design. The VW's...

Re: German engine?
German for sure ("EB" Eisenwerke Brühl logo). Can't spot on the photos whether the distributor is front or rear mounted though. The rear monted distributor was introduced in 1943.

Re: 1934 Ford Jap taxi from 45
Ford of Germany in Cologne did V8s back right from 1932, but still imported all flatheads from the US until the Cologne engine plant started in 1936.
Yokohama might have been a small assembly...

Re: Do you have a Ford Flathead V8 H-block?
I don't think so. "Heer" means army, Ford trucks were also used by the air forces "Luftwaffe" and marines. If it was a German army spec it would rather read "W" for "Wehrmacht.
But I also don't know...

Re: Do you have a Ford Flathead V8 H-block?
German flathead blocks were cast at the Cologne-Niehl plant in-house foundry, later switched over to "Eisenwerke Brühl" (see typical EB logo on the German blocks). Brühl is a Cologne suburb. EB is...

Re: Do you have a Ford Flathead V8 H-block?
I am in contact with Carl and must admit the flathead experts in our club have no clue what the "H" stands for and why the original serial number was re-stamped.
Possibly the "H" was just a...

Re: French Connecting Rods
I'm running a complete French flathead engine in my '37, no worries so far with the rods. However their Zenith carbs, SEV dizzys and poor quality casting intakes are junk and should be swapped.
