Re: When is a "Model A" no longer a "Model A"

If you have a hip replaced, are "you" still "you", then a knee replaced, or cataract surgery? Since the question has to do more with the metaphysics of identity than with the Model A, this example...

Re: '29 roadster pickup sill plates

Thanks, Randy. After a bit of massaging, I got mine to fit reasonably well. The passenger side is good, the driver's side less so. However, I attribute that to the fact that I had to do extensive...

Re: '29 roadster pickup sill plates

Thanks, Russ. I sort of expected to hear that. My orignals were beyond repair. Fortunately, I'm pretty handy with metal, so I think I'll just reshape as needed. I'm still uncertain as to how the...

'29 roadster pickup sill plates

I'm installing reproduction sill plates on my '29 rpu and the bottom edge is rolled too far inboard to align with the bottom of the quarter panel. I'm not clear on how the bottom edge of the sill...

Re: Silicone brake fluid

Make sure you get an old one. Harley no longer uses DOT 5 fluid. It didn't play well with anti-lock braking systems so they when back to glycol based fluids.

Re: Silicone brake fluid

The good news about DOT 5 is that it's not hygroscopic. That's the bad news too, as any moisture that gets into the system will not become homogeneous with the fluid. This can cause the moisture to...

Re: Stuck Signal Stat 900 Signal Switch

Agreed that you should try a new flasher, but check all grounds as lights in a system can do funny things when a ground is lost.

Re: Stuck Signal Stat 900 Signal Switch

What about in the neutral "off" position. Are the lights on then, or just in the left or right position?

Re: '28-'29 Pickup cab to bed gap

Thanks to everyone for the input. I know a question about the cab/bed gap may seem odd, but I fabricated my A frame from scratch and am trying to get the bed location as accurate as possible relative...

'28-'29 Pickup cab to bed gap

If I could ask a favor. -- On a '28-29 pickup with original cab and bed locations, how wide is the gap between the back of the cab and bed, measured at the top of the bed panel? Thanks,

Re: Tire Purchase - Bias/Radial

The pressure shown on the sidewall is generally the pressure at which the load rating is specified and doesn't necessarily relate to any particular vehicle on which the tire could be mounted....

Re: spark plug sump plug

You'll never have to ask whether the plug was oil fouled or gas fouled.

Re: Why I prefer open cars

I like the open cars because for me they're so much less complicated to build.

Re: Crooked Block Stud

As a check, try it with a known good bolt and see if the bolt will start easily. If it does, try the stud.

Re: Mini alternator

I just grabbed a quick listing for reference. I bought mine for $49, but that was several years ago. Speedway Motors makes a pulley with a 17 mm hole and groove for 5/8 belt for $15. Cheaper than...

Re: Broken rotor on crab distributor

Think I'm missing something here. After an electronic conversion, you've still got a rotor spinning around in a cap with the potential for collision.True?

Re: New Rotor Issue
