Late 31 s/w indented firewall with fold down arm rest ?? I have the same car but arm rest are on both sides of rear seat . No fold down arm rest in center of seat.

Good chance you will crack the manifold if you tighten it to 45#. Watch the gasket and when it starts to compress you have it tight enough . Do a search .Lots of posts on this subject.

Proper sized jets will correct this problem as P S testified .I had the same problem and put in proper sized jets . PROBLEM SOLVED.

I have seen loose radius rods cause this. Replace radius ball or put in washer over existing ball . Vendors have the washer.

Had same problem . Retorqued head , still leaked ,removed antifreeze,still leaked, added distilled water with old fashion Bars Leak solved problem .

Do a search . Lots of info on hangers . If you have a SS muffler and tail pipe DO NOT clamp the hanger tight against the pipe . Leave loose so tail pipe can expand .

Some times when the plates get hot they expand away from each other and loose contact. Spent 3 hrs one cold Nov night on the Natchez Trace trouble shooting a fellow club members car with same...

New club member said he had a 31 with a tear drop fire wall . Tear drop sounds a look more sexy than indented . Makes me feel a lot better about my 31 s/w tear drop with a B engine. So many negatives...

Suggest you return the manifold and purchase one that requires no stud replacement .All the major suppliers stock them.

This engine has been modified to change from babitt rods to inserts . No oil filter provisions from the factory . I did add an oil filter .Sorry, I am not sharp enough on these...

Thanks for the comments on the B engine . I have a 1938 B diamond block engine with factory counter balanced crank shaft 60 over with inserts on the rods and babitt on the mains. So far no problems...
