Re: Stewart-Warner vs EA Horns
While I have never worked on an EA horn I can tell you the Stewart Warner horn is wound opposite from a Sparton horn and rotates in the opposite direction. The SW horn has left hand treads for the...

Re: Ownership History
Its funny you mentioned Ancestry. I found the original owners of my 31 Slant Fordor. I was told that the people that had owned the car originally lived in Malone, NY and their name was Schoo. With...

Re: 60 miles per hour all day long
IN my forty years of experience I can tell you that 60 miles an hour driving at interstate speeds will require a babbitt job after 20,000 miles. Been there and done that a few times.

Re: Mechanical vs. Juice brakes on an A
I know it is an old thread but I think it is worth mentioning that juice brakes do suffer from corrosion due to long term storage and environmental conditions. Some antique cars tend to sit for a...

Re: Why positive ground?
Radio at the time did not require polarity to be an issue. Radio vibrators would work for either pos. or neg. ground and as long as the voltage of the tube plate is more positive than the cathode all...

Re: Why positive ground?
I read many years ago that the theory was: the positive battery terminal tends to corrode the most and the battery is held in place by a metal hold downs that are grounded to the chassis. Given that...

Re: Southwind & Zenith
I have never installed one but did look into it years ago. The South wind is a very good heater that will only run when the engine has good vacuum. I have heard the old timers say that the heat would...

Re: Generator voltage
Voltage varies with the third brush position, load and RPM. I'm not sure how you are measuring the voltage and what you are using. The voltage difference you are reading between the generator and the...

Re: Brakes..has anyone tried?
IMHO Ford designed the rears to lock first with more pressure on the rear shoes due to the action of longer levers in a pulling action as opposed to the fronts where there is a pushing pin action...

Re: 2 tooth steering ajustment
I've never had a problem with the slotted rivet adjuster. If memory serves me right it is for equalizing the lash either side of the center of steering.

Re: Radiator Cap
I would let the fluid find its own level. At that time you may not be able to see the level by looking under the cap. So simply squeeze the upper hose and if you hear sloshing you have enough fluid....
