Re: What the heck is this trim plate (1938/39)?

It was covered in brushed-on paint, but it cleaned up nice with some 0000 steel wool.

1939 Deluxe grille bar (just one!)

I need a single bar, the actual sheetmetal bar, not stainless trim.

I need the SECOND bar from center, toward the driver's side.

Hopefully someone has a bashed-up parts grille that can...

Re: 39 Deluxe worth saving?

:eek:I would freak out if I found an old '40 coupe with a Merc block just sitting out in the woods!!!

Please take a moment to reflect on how cool this is, alone!

That car is definitely...

Re: Loose rear axle key '39 rearend

Thanks, Alan.

That's good food for thought. I'm no speed demon. Just want the car to be safe and fun to drive.

I will hunt down some '35-'41 axle assemblies.

I was hoping to do some...

Re: 1940 Rear Tube Shocks:

I got the kit for a lowered 2-3" rear.

The part # for a stock height rear is BD-18000-K.

It required some grinding on the rear crossmember, for shock clearance.

Also, you need to drill...

Aaarrrgh...

So, I checked the keyway for cracks, and everything looked good.

Put the drum back on, tightened the axle nut with a breaker bar.

Then, I got my buddy's newly calibrated,...

Re: Loose rear axle key '39 rearend

Thanks, I did not look there.

Now I'm feeling a little paranoid.

I might as well pop that drum off, again, and look exactly where you described.

Thanks again, everybody!

Re: Loose rear axle key '39 rearend

Thanks for all the help, guys.

I am going to fab up some safety clips for the drums.

I made sure the keyway was really clean, and it didn't seem like there was too much side to side play.

Loose rear axle key '39 rearend

I did a couple searches, but did not find the info. I need.

When I removed the rear drums on my '39, recently, the axle key on the driver's side rear came off with the drum. It was stuck in the...

I love it when nice guys finish first. And a '36 3W is in my top 3 Fords, ever.

If you really want to get those tarp remnants off, try using "Rapid Remover". You can...

Need a '39 DeLuxe bumper

I need one decent original '39 bumper, blade only.

Does not need nice chrome, just to be straight and suitable for a semi-crusty driver, at the time being.

Thanks.

Re: 1940 Ford been sitting since 1957

Don't ever sell that beauty. I sold a '40 DeLuxe Tudor years ago, and still wish I had kept it.

Now that I have my '39, I feel like I'm somewhat redeemed, but it would be nice to have a his/hers...

Re: Drake '39 DeLuxe headlight lenses issue

They're out there. I got a pair at a swap meet for $40, but then discovered they had some harline cracks going vertically from the top edge, down. Probably overtightened in the past. They also are...

Re: Drake '39 DeLuxe headlight lenses issue

I don't want to start a Drake-bashing thread with this, though. I've been very happy with nearly everything I've purchased from them.

And I'm grateful for much of the hard-to-find parts that do...

What did you use to grind down the material? And how far down did you go? I guess I can just match the relative thickness of the original lenses that I have.

I'm thinking I can rely on my...
