Re: 99 Merc block done

I can't explain the difference in the heads, but I can say the '1' in 91A makes it a Ford part number, and the second '9' in 99A makes it a Mercury part number

Re: lets go camping

They have a beach at DV. It's around Lake Manley. No crowds in the summer.

Re: horn ring finish

This is only a guess... maybe nickle plated? I'm guessing nickle because mine looks a little like nickle, and there are a few other things on my car that seem to be nickle. ???

Re: Saw this for sale & thought I'd share

Regarding 'hambed-out', there is hope. I had a 28 A RPU, back in the 58-64 period. It had a 56 sbc, 39 trans, A rear end, and Lincoln brakes. I saw it a couple years later, and by then it had a bbc....

Re: Auto trans for Model A

ZZlegend... I believe I've probably seen the same Model A at so cal car events. It's a pretty hot A. And I know it's been at least 10 years since the first time I saw it with the Chrysler...

Re: '33 four cylinder out there

That's about the ugliest, non-authentic exhaust system I've ever seen on a 33-34. It makes me wonder what else is butchered on the car. Aside from that, I'd be a player if the rest is ok, and if it...

Re: 33,34 anti squeak

I wondered this, too, when I assembled my car. I studied the area pretty carefully, and couldn't really decide. 'Witness' marks on my car suggest nothing was there. I'm still not sure. Someone with...

Re: What is the cubic inch displacement?

It all comes down to abiding by the 'rules' for significant digits. All the input numbers are exact, except for pi. Mart used the pi button, which provides 'boo-coo' significant digits, so he can...

Re: Banjo rear end interchangeability

Rumbleseat (Paul) did it, using later (46) Columbia parts. Writeup is in the tech site. Anything is possible, but do you really want to go there? Paul had machine shop access, so he could do the axle...

Re: What is the cubic inch displacement?

3.14159 x (3 3/16+.060) sqd 4 x 4.000 x 8 = 265.0567, according to my cheapo calculator

Re: Stripped threads on my axle

Just opinion here, but mag particle insp is pretty simple, and within reach for most of us. After watching shop guys do it, I bought a couple appropriate magnets and mag particle powder. Now I can...

Re: 1934 clutch and pressure plate

My 34 has a 36-40-style flywheel, and 9-in clutch. Never regretted the change.
The 34 clutch is available to anyone that wants it.
I thought about taking the lip off, but never did.
(BTW, 8BA...

Re: How to fix wheel bearing race spinning in hub?

Re post 5 again... I did this about a dozen years ago on one of my cars. It's been working fine.
Another fix, taught to me by another old guy, use a copper rod in your arc welder, and 'skate' a...

Re: How to remove a 33 front crossmember?

Also note that the crossmember, as it is, has grown in length, because it has been beat upward. That is forcing it tighter against the rails, compared to stock original. You can measure the frame...

Re: How to remove a 33 front crossmember?

I'd follow the suggestion in post 2, but get that front end completely out of the way. And, look at that spring pack. It's way too big (stiff). I'd remove many of those leaves, and while doing that,...

Re: Top Loader trans for 59ab, what fits?

Are you sure you have a T-18? A T-18 is a trans commonly used in Ford (& others, & Scouts) pickups, several years including 70's & 80's. It has a granny low, and is typically driven like a 3 speed,...

Re: Any Fellow Model A Clubs or enthusiasts in Riverside California???

Orange Co A's pancake breakfast, coming up, is always a good place to make contact with anything 'Model A'. Sometimes nearly 300 A's and owners. April 26.
As noted, Paradise Valley A's, swap meet,...

Re: Help needed refurbishing 51 Merc engine

If you are in the NW area, Centenial Hills area, and if you are not in a hurry, you could get me to come out if the Neway cutters are ok for you. I'm not there now
