40 Ford serial # location... update
Found the serial number. It was way up front on top of front crossmember. It was right next to the two rivets along the very edge of the frame rail. Thanks to all for help.

40 Ford serial # location
Looking for serial # location. Was told it was on frame next to steering box. I cleaned the frame about 8" and no sign of numbers. Is there another place to look for numbers? Thanks in advance.

In need of a primary metering block for a Holley 4bbl carb. The Holley is a 390 cfm, list number 8007. The part number for the metering block is 7204 that is stamped on the top of the metering block....

Overdrive kickdown switch
When installing the switch through the firewall and under the gas pedal do you cut the carpet or not? Is there a dimension between the switch and the pedal?

Yes, there is the thick washer that is dished and the attaching bolt is short. I'm pretty sure the thick washer is tightly bolted to the end of the transmission output shaft and there is still play...

Thanks Ken, it is a 32' transmission. The universal joint is a Bob Drake reproduction. Are there different universal joints for different applications?

closed drive universal install
When you bolt the universal joint to the output shaft on a closed drive transmission is there play on the shaft. I have about a 1/4" play with the bolt tightened.

overdrive kickdown switch install
What is the correct way to install the kickdown switch under the gas pedal? Does it just touch the pedal or do you leave a determined distance between pedal and switch? Thanks, Richard
