Re: Flathead sound.

If you look at the video, you will see a 40 Pickup----that's what I hope to install the engine in. I have had some serious health issues for the past 4 years that have prevented any work on the...

Re: Flathead sound.

That is my engine! It's been so long since I built it, I cannot remember the exact CompCams grind---but it's the biggest one.

Re: Steering damper

My 40 sedan doesn't have a damper. It handles well with no "bump" up to 70-75 ---as fast as I want to go. I use a dropped axle with 7.5 degrees of caster. But, the steering is hard as low speeds and...

Re: 1951 - rod & main clearance

This is sort of "on the subject". Coating of bearings (and other parts as well) is very standard today. There are companies that coat bearings OR you can coat them yourself with the right equipment....

I have a split core radiator in my shop. Thirty years ago, both cores were replaced and the tanks are original. The radiator is essentially new. The only usage was to run in an engine about 28 years...

Re: Barrett Jackson

You have cars that look good at 50 feet, closer than that the flaws show. Then you have car that look good at 5 feet---they are worth far more than the 50 footers. Finally, you have the cars that...

Re: My flathead engine

A couple of other questions that I did not answer:

Yes, the heads, intake and gear cover is powder coated. I am getting too old to polish on aluminum or chrome.

I think I will powder...

Re: Cross steering for 34 Ford

I am considering using a Vega box on my 40 ford pickup. Some say the Vega box is too light to handle the weight of a pickup. Any opinions?
My truck should weigh about 2700 lbs, not much more than a...

Re: 40 Ford Headers

I used a pair of 65 289 exhaust manifolds. It is helpful if you can raise the engine about 1". The exhaust pipe will need to be only 1.5" in diameter. Or even better if you can oval shape the exhaust...

Re: Trip down Memory Lane Or why young kids are messed up!!

Spark Plug Heat Range Question

We are finally getting to assembling the flathead engine. What spark plug plug should I use? The heads take a 3/4" plug, 14MM, the compression ratio will be 9.35 to 1.
