A "JUMP WIRE" is nowhere near heavy-enough to carry the cranking current that a starter demands. One would need to use a decent jumper CABLE to perform such a test. DD

The "hot to the touch" part would only come into play while the starter is operating. DD

Here's a picture of Macs NEW 12v flatty starter. 6v uses same picture. I'd find it difficult to believe that this starter was manufactured within 1,000 miles of Dorothy's Kansas. DD

You need to find an old-timey shop in an old part of town that's been around forever! If they do 'big truck' stuff, that's a good sign. DD

If you bought a NEW starter from Mac's, you can be well-assured that it was manufactured in some hemisphere far, far away. Best advice on an item like that is to send an ORIGINAL "Henry Ford"...

So, let's be CLEAR about your symptom. It SEEMS like you're using so many other words and phrases just to say......."The starter turns-over the engine much-more slowly than normal, AFTER the engine...
