Re: 2024 Chickasha pre-war Swap Meet

Re: 2024 Chickasha pre-war Swap Meet
Yeah, my two-cents on this meet failing is more about the meet itself. I am a second generation attendee of Chickasha, and from my vantage point of what it used to be, ...and what it has become are...

Re: Front fender cracking out
We do use that process with chromoly tubing when we are building a race car frame however it really does not work the same way with sheetmetal. In sheetmetal, we typically just planish the weld...

Re: Gas tank filler neck
Yes, it was swaged in and the soldered with something much akin to silicon bronze. While they can be replaced, you probably need to think this through and make sure your skillset matches the task...

Re: Front fender cracking out
Well I guess since you posted those links, I will also tell you that what Bill said above about the fender being in tension is correct. Correct that problem first.
FWIW, the key 'takeaway' to...

Why is there a need for an Adjustable Drag Link?
I fielded a phone call from someone asking about needing an adjustable drag link. I gave him my opinion that an adjustable drag link was a bandaid for a different problem that should be addressed,...

Re: Engine paint
So lets debunk this theory. Since the engine paint was Alkyd Enamel, ...and the only dipping enamel that was used in Model-A production was Gloss Black, it would have needed WAY more Yellow and Blue...

Re: counterbalanced crank welds
Yes, while Ron Miller passed away last year, his son BJ and their crew are still building many A & T engines. There was/is a video on YouTube by Hagerty that featured the Hagerty crew filming their...

Re: Value of an Un-Restored Model A Engine
Gene, actually what you purchased from your rebuilder was his 'time'. You paid $650 which covered the other engines that he had to disassemble and scrap because they were unusable because of value. ...

Re: Value of an Un-Restored Model A Engine
Well, being brutally honest with you, -some may already be scrap. To the unknowing, you may get $100 for a complete core however it has been my experience that most engines as you describe are...

Re: Rear Hub Wobble/Drum turning?
Are you saying the machining was not co-planer, -or the hub was worn that way?
When the hub was manufactured, there was a reamer that brought the taper and the bearing race to final size as a...

Re: brass Ford script plate ID
That is interesting for sure. Besides Model-As, I am 'into' early Ts as well since I own an '09, a '14 and a couple of '15s. The Made in USA generally said to have started in 1912, so that possibly...
