Re: Upper Front floorboard reinforcements?
The swap over from "dovetailed" board (so called Linderman Construction) to plywood was done more or less with the transfer to the 30-31 Models.
The boards (and their metal reinforcements) are...

Re: Frame numbers
I have a Model A engine (painted red) that likely was an "Allstate" replacement engine.
No number. Never had one from the look of the numberpad.
Do you think anyone would mind if I numbered...

Re: Narrow bed or wide bed
The narrow bed is almost "unusable" as a means to carry anything. Maybe pieces of wood not to exceed 6' in length. And the width is narrower than a piece of plywood is wide.
I've carried...

Re: Synchronized Transmission
For a while, 600W oil was (um) substituted with something else. There was complaints on the quart cans of oil everyone was buying from "proven" Model A vendors.
One of the nice features of...

Re: Value of an Un-Restored Model A Engine
"Rod conversons" CAN be a source of parts.
More than once I've bought from someone who "rodded."
"I can sell you everything but the body and the frame which I've 'boxed.'"
The last...

Re: 1929 TwoLite headlamps w/ LED turn signals
You don't say if the Parking light bulb in the headlight is LED or the original 3cp filament.
I could see an LED in COLOR in that location/application. Strobe red possibly. Or if you want to...

Re: Synchronized Transmission
I can go from first to second without double clutching.
From second to third I can do it - but it's a lot easier to double clutch.
Funny. When I first got the Model A and before any work on...

Re: What did he do?
It's been 25 years since I bought a set of Westcott Fenders. I've seen others of unnamed manufacture at the Epping flea market that I would guess were about half the weight.
Its a different...

I would do high quality fiberglass fenders...
Westcott USED to be high quality - in place and bolted you almost couldn't tell they were not steel - until you feel underneath for the "bead."
Joe...

Re: high conpression head ??
Vince Falter (Fordgarage.com) says that the manual adjust "span range" of the Model A distributor timing is about twice what is needed.
If you have to go much above horizontal on the handle,...

Re: Fluted Headlight lenses?
The development of "twolite" headlights was the end of the earlier (fluted) "Type H" headlights.
Twolite allowed the use of "parking lights" which caused changes in the wiring harness (i.e. a...

Re: Value of an Un-Restored Model A Engine
One has to keep that in mind. "Barn find" usually means there was some issue which caused it's removal and storage in the barn.
"Might use it some day" was popular then as it is now.
Almost...

Re: Value of an Un-Restored Model A Engine
The scrap value of $50 plus the hourly rate for your time to establish all of this and the work that was done.
Being "less worn" than usually seen MIGHT be a plus - but not a big one. It's...

He found a use for all those extra left over parts?
It's nice. He is a craftsman for sure.
And there is now a good chance his spare parts will outlive him.
Functionality seems to be the...

Re: 1928 Ford Model A Truck Door Windows
This is true - and - it used Model T hinges.
Neil sold me a Model T set which I bought for comparison - and to see if they were any different from the Model A hinges. Marked "Stanley" (the...

Re: Value of an Un-Restored Model A Engine
Easy to call it "cheapskate" - BUT you're selling to a market which is "saturated." And getting more so with the passing of those who actually LIVED the Model A Ford. Maybe as a pre-WWII driver -...

Re: Value of an Un-Restored Model A Engine
When I have paid, which isn't often, I usually go $100 for an engine block WITH Flywheel/clutch and flywheel housing (which half the time are cracked.)
Bell housing runs $20 to $50 with the higher...

Re: 2 HP hotrod
Dad bought his 28 RPU in 1937 for $25 from the junkman. Sold it in 1941 for $25, BACK to the junkman. "Best deal I ever got on an automobile."
That was a fully functional "legal" car.

Re: JC Whitney 1970 era horn info
Amazing what a night's sleep can do.
You can use the horn without modification if you provide a "relay" which is normally open but on energization goes "closed."
The relay acts as...

Re: JC Whitney 1970 era horn info
The horn is probably the commonly seen "Hutchins" pattern. One of the three I have has a chrome bell, a blue (go figure) back body, and a single wire coming out through a hole with a rubber...
