I had a similar issue when I first bought my A 8 years ago. Whilst checking for a spark and not knowing the electronic unit was fitted I blew the module (my bad) maybe that's what has happened?

My 1929 Sport Coupe is LHD there are lots here. I also have a LHD Chevy Truck. You soon get used to it ;)
