Re: How to disassemble a Columbia rearend

Yes, 4.44:1 is standard ratio with Lincoln Zephyr. I believe, after looking at your pictures posted, that your diff is actually 38-39 Lincoln Zephyr...it is a hypoid rear, which first came out in...

Re: Compression and flow

Assemble your short block, then machine the heads to achieve the desired .040" odd thou quench. Getting that clearance from top of piston at TDC to head to within .040-.050" is paramount for optimum...

Lincoln pinion backlash

I'm in the process of setting up a Lincoln [hypoid] rear end. I'm quite familiar with how to set up a banjo rear, having done numerous Fords over the years, but I don't know the specs for backlash...

Re: Iron vs. Aluminum 21 stud heads - which is better?

pros and cons;
Aluminum heads are original to your engine

Re: What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

Picked up the 99 relieved block from the machinist that I got him to hone to suit the new steel pistons I supplied. Unfortunately, the crankshaft I'd asked him to grind was cracked and bent, told him...

Re: Compression and flow

It's the age old question; flow versus compression. Everyone has their own theories. Some things work better than others. Real serious racers keep their combustion chamber designs secret. I very much...

Re: What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

Stripped the 39 LZ rear end I bought yesterday...looks good; the bits I want....I run a Columbia in my V8, which is lowered. This tends to permit lubricant to run forward down the torque tube. As the...
