Re: Headlight problems

Flashing headlights is the 1940 circuit breaker's way of telling you there is a short somewhere.

Re: Erratic speedo up to about 30mph

Just a tip. When you disconnect the cable from the speedometer, immediately cover the end with a plastic baggy or some such. Those things tend to have a mind of their own and can leave skid marks...

Re: 1932 Ford Alternator options

Re: Holley 390 CFM Accelerator Pump

A noticeable smell of raw gas after the engine is shut down can be an indicator of a blown power valve.

Re: engine shut down enrouote

My dad flew the civilian(Stratocruiser) version of the KC-97 for Northwest. Fortunately, he never had any gear problems or lost an engine. As he said, he made it a point never to take those trips. ...

Re: 1940 Ford Coupe Headliner Question

FWIW, I believe the correct term for the "grabber strips" is Door Tins.

Re: E 3 spark plugs

Reminds me of the "Fire Injector" plugs from J C Whitney back in the 70's. Don't recall that they did much for my Pinto station wagon:(

Re: 40 turn signal options??

IMHO, unless you you've tested these units and have their wiring schematics, it's probably easier just to buy a new one complete with instructions.

Re: Paul Bradley Response

Yes, but as I recall, Wally showed up, took pity on the Griswolds, and let them in the park. So, maybe there's hope after all;)

Re: Shifting A Columbia In A '40

Re: radial tires

Diamondback sells radials made by various Japanese manufacturers. They add whitewalls using their own process. I've had a set on my '40 for several years and have been quite happy with them.
