Sounds good to me the way it is. Remember the carrier bearing have a preload as well. So your talking the pinion preload, the carrier bearings preload and the drag of the ring & pinion together,...

There are ways to measure preload requirements in a production situation. Rest assured they were not just slapped together hoping for the best. Returns are not cheap for a company or a dealer? ...
