Couldn't Wait

Young guy that bought that sedan couldn't wait to get rid of the 60 stuff and make a common model out of it. I contacted him about buying the parts but they were already gone. I have a good '40...

Drake Marked Boards

Went out and took another look at my Drake boards and found the large Drake logo on the braces to be as excessive as ever. The tops look great in every sense, but as was explained by a Drake insider...

I can sure see where White64 can get such ideas. On 20% plus shipping day, I went to work ordering all that was to be needed for another '40 project totaling more than $2500. Before amassing the...

Re: 1932 Steering coulmn lock sleeve?

Be a bit careful with those guys. Couple of things went badly where a wheel was cracked beyond repair and the price was pretty retail. The were not gracious when I brought it back the same day....

Re: '40 Dash Panel Brace?

That is definitely the brace that I was surprised to find. From Kube's picture also sense the futility or inadequacy of my work on these cars comparing the level of restoration that I am likely to...

Re: '40 Dash Panel Brace?

Thanks to all, No reason not to use it again. Must be like the engine pans that are usually tossed. Only lately has such disassembly been needed as the cars and I are about to get old. Good Luck:...

'40 Dash Panel Brace?

Removing the dash in one of my '40, found a stamped brace with a rather factory appearance, about 9" long, running from the bottom, behind the battery gage up to the cowl. Of the relative many '40...

Cyber Monday with Bob

Took a shot at Bob's Cyber Monday. A bit of a wrestling match with the online which kept deleting my promo code. Time ran short and was not able to check availability on the scores of items desired....

Re: Seeking 37-39 rear brake drum...

Tigger made a point in his PM that I must have been in a sour mood questioning his thread. Reading what I posted, sure seems that he had a point as someone that may not have known about the other...

Re: Seeking 37-39 rear brake drum...

Didn't see anything in the Wanted section from Tigger about wanting brake drum. Nor did Tigger give us a break as to where he is located so those local to him could respond. Is Tigger even in the...

Don't like Rumbles!

Unfortunately my roadster was originally a Deluxe and the deck lid is a rumble type. Tried to swap with guys looking to convert and was offered the worst lids in trade for my runble lid and seat. Now...

Re: '40 Spare Tire Bracket

Sounds like a business coupe where it has two sets of holes for the mount. Good Luck: Fred A

Re: '40 Spare Tire Bracket

Good news about the brace and bracket. Had looked on their site and not found the brace etc, but only a few patch pieces not as useful in low-rust California. A friend with a '39 coupe had mentioned...

'40 Spare Tire Bracket

Are the spare tire brackets the same for other Ford cars? I have a '40 five window coupe and need the bracket, but which one? Of course the interior body brace has been cut out too. Could it be that...

Re: Model A Roadster Shocks

The common shock used on Models A and other Fords replacing the Houdaille, is the Gabriel @ 9.5" to 14.5". The part numbers vary depending whether they are plated or not but all seem to have the same...

Re: 39 Pickup tranny

Ford was well known for using the parts from prior production until old stocks were used up. This famously applied to commercials and to some extent, the standard models. That would put earlier...

Re: 1946 Ford Flathead 59Block

Choice of heads may be a matter of what car it may be used it. The engine was introduced at the end of the war (as WWII). The 59A heads were soon replaced with a slightly changed 59A-B to clarify...

Re: '40 merc pinion question

Hard to imagine that machine work and other handling expenses could be a better idea than buying aftermarket gears. Declaring that the original gears could be superior seems like a shoot from the hip...

Drake Boards

I bought the Drake boards but am a bit put off by the Drake label that screams repop from the bottom side, along with the plating which may be a plus but calls for some paint. I got some original...

Re: '40 Deluxe Grille Side Mismatch Etc..

If the glass is near correct, and the HAMB link is also correct, then either count will be close to correct. Since I have access to a lot of parts, and other '40 parts seem so common, going to put...

'40 Deluxe Grille Side Mismatch Etc..

The grille sides on my '40 don't match. One side has fewer vents than the other. The window glass shows an 11-39. Outside of a which ever I find first, which would be more correct? Engine and frame...

Re: Model B to V8 transmission adapter

Steering Geoffery away from the V8 trans toward the native B trans makes good sense in several ways. First if his oil pan has not yet been butchered, he can more easily take advantage of the rigid...

Re: 40 coupe window frame

The difference is with the window garnishes, door handles + cranks and trim. Doors are the same for '40. The inner structure of '40 doors prevents the one piece glass of earlier doors from rising....

Re: 40 Ford 1/2 ton

My '41 pickup had a factory column shift. It started as a six cylinder. Hard to imagine a half ton of anything in that small bed. Makes me think that half ton was very optimistic. Good Luck: Fred A
