Re: F-1 column revisited

The F1 has splines and a taper. The 40 only has a taper and keyway. The later 53-55 wheels will fit on the F1 shaft but will have to change column mast to make it look right. I used the 53-55 column...

Re: 48 F1 Steering Wheel Replacement Options???

Well the truck ones from later years are still going to be big. My 52 came with a 51 car wheel but also had the column mast from the car as well. I wasn't into the car wheel so I put a Vintique 40...

Re: 1950 F1 Exhaust Question

I have found they are not always made right. I had a passenger side pipe that was made wrong. The pipe coming from the manifold fits into the main pipe that runs to the rear. This pipe was inserted...

Re: Another reason I hate Postal money orders

My bank charges $8 for a money order and the post office is $1. No brainer there. The process is faster at the post office than the bank. My post office won't cash them as they say they don't have...

Re: 1948 f1 hood latch

I'm guessing front sheetmetal is out of alignment or bent. Hard to tell without pictures of the front clip.

Re: 1946 ford front door hinges adjustments

You can place a piece of wood between the door and the post then closing the door against it will spread the hinge thereby moving it away from the post.

Re: Replacing window felt f1 pickup

I remember that there were clips that clamped onto the felt then fit into holes in the door. But only for the bottom of the window opening. I used a pair of pliers nothing fancy. The real problem tho...

Re: 1950 Ford Heater Switch

Not sure what you mean by modern transistor resistor. You can replace it with a resistor that has same ohms value and wattage. I would imagine finding a NOS one would look better. They are ceramic...

Re: 34 door latches?

There were two styles of the front handle latches where the handle moved in opposite directions for each style. I had not seen center handle latches that worked in a similar fashion.

Re: F1 Radiator Fan Shroud

Probably easier to put a v8 shroud on a 6 than the other way around. The v8 radiator has 4 hose connections and the six only has two. The v8 shroud is dimpled at the bottom for the two hoses. Not...

Re: NOS key lock id help

Top one is an ignition switch lock cylinder and lower is a door lock cylinder. From what I can see look like 51-52 f1 truck. Not sure tho if the shaft on the door lock is the right length for an f1.
