Re: Bad clutch

It looks like the bellhousing contained the mess. Lots of damage, looks like chunks of the block there too. If that were mine I'd be looking at about $4000 damage.

Re: head clearance

My understanding is instead of a head gasket you use washers of a .050 thickness. The .050 is the thichness of a compressed head gasket. Then use play-doe or aluminum foil ball on top of the pistons...

Re: t5 is installed

Lyle:
I think 92 was the last year s10 used the chevy bolt pattern. What you have is a 93 s10 that's when they switched to ford bolt pattern. Ford in a Ford that's good too. Gene

Re: t5 is installed

Lyle:
I come up with a 4.03 1st gear after all it's a truck tranny. I think the old 3 speeds had a 2.95 to 1 ratio. A little on the granny side but with the quicker shifting t5 should be sweet...

Re: Flathead Gas Mileage

Sounds like my 396 Camaro with 4.11s.

I would say shitty carbs or bad distributor.

If gas isn't running out the pipes, you have a high gear that you use and your eyes don't burn when...

I'm in the market for pumps. Any vendor can get a bad string of parts. The thing that really matters is how they handle the solution. Nice to hear if these venders correct the problems or give you...

Re: Flathead Piston and Ring Questions...

I'm doing the same thing right now. My 255 had some cylinder pits. The machinist said it should clean up at .060. I told him go to .125. Same price to go .125 as .060. I want a little more snoose. I...
