Re: Hendersonville, North Carolina

This is the most beautiful time of the year to be in Western NC especially on the Blue Ridge Parkway. But it's going to be busier than normal with folks driving to see the fall colors.

I wish I...

Re: engine analyzer questions

Two 6v batteries in a twin pack = 12v. Very handy and available at Wal-Mart.

Re: 1934 Ford Pickup firing order

"Thanks for the information. It helped me out very much."

Just don't rely on the 32-36 diagram on the Van Pelt Sales website. As MGG pointed out, it is incorrect.

Re: 1934 Ford Pickup firing order

MGG,

Study that 32-36 diagram carefully. How can the distributor fire #1 then #5?

(Very few guys take the time to figure out how the rotor and cap design work to produce the firing order.)

Re: Timing light

Would recommend not buying stuff you don't need, especially tools. If you don't need a dial back, don't buy one.

If you are buying a timing light only to set your initial advance of 2 or 4...

Re: Timing light

"Really need a deal back one, but no idea if any of them work on 6v."

Means "dial back" of course. Don't know what Habusailor needs.

Have to be careful with digital timing lights. There's a...

Re: Looking to contact Fordbarn member

I'd start by calling the Westport CT Model A Club, Carmine Picarello 203-216-1097. They might know him by his cabriolet.

Re: Title goes with Frame or Engine?

Lic to kill,

Can one ever legally alter, remove or obliterate a VIN in Canada?

If so, or if not, post a link to the appropriate Criminal Code.

Re: Title goes with Frame or Engine?

I wouldn't want to put this dispute in front of a judge. It's hard to predict how she would view it.

Might say there's no "vehicle" by statute, and titles only apply to vehicles. Or, if there is...

Re: 1939 pickup new distributor

Michael, exactly. What if someone had kept telling you that you couldn't/shouldn't even try.

Anyhow, a lot of your success today can be attributed to those feeler gauges.

There is always going...

Aside from concerns about the quality of reproduction points, there is an overwhelming belief that the simplest timing procedure on an...

Re: Helmet distributor an a 4 cylinder

"How would you time it ?"

Nobody answered this. Actually, once you figure out how to adapt the distributor to the Model A, timing would be pretty easy. Just a matter of experimenting to find out...

Re: Pickup gears in early gearbox?

I think certain later transmissions were made with one or two of the small teeth removed to prevent interference. Cannot find a reference on this.

Edit: Here's a pic.

Re: Helmet distributor an a 4 cylinder

Fascinating to think about what was being tried back then. Note the carbs. Makes you wonder about how much the distributor was modified ... cam doesn't need 8 lobes, remove 4 ... plenty of dwell...

Re: PERTRONIX Ignitor Ignition 1940 ford Helmet Dist

Buck, I asked that question back in post #13 ... then deleted the question because Veeder, in post #11, said he was using a "remotely mounted coil."

I didn't want it to appear that I wasn't paying...

Re: PERTRONIX Ignitor Ignition 1940 ford Helmet Dist

Veeder, interesting that you say the driver's side points closed, as in stuck together if that's what you mean. How did you check for that? Helmets are kind of tight when installed.

You've been...

Re: PERTRONIX Ignitor Ignition 1940 ford Helmet Dist

Veeder, what exactly are the issues you are having? Have you made any adjustments to the distributor that Skip set up?
